Terry Jones to burn the Islamic Holy Book 'The Koran'

Augustin: No one has a right to Insult, Discriminate, Desecrate or Damage the beliefs of others. The actions of the Gainesville, Fla., evangelical church under the leadership of the lunatic Terry Jones, makes the community of that church no better than the perpetrators of the WTC tragedy and are an insult to all those who perished in that tragedy.

I am lost as to how this evangelical church will be able to go down on their knees or raise up their hands to our Almighty God in worship, after their disgraceful & barbaric act to burn the Islamic Holy Book 'The Koran'.

Debra Cowger Corcoran I agree, Augustin... but surely you must admit, it does help make sense of it if we can find a way to put ourselves in the other's shoes so to speak. My reply follows :
Appreciate your comments Debra. But if we go down this road there will be endless bloodshed & vengeance. Throughout the Bible you will see that the power Jesus came to release is namely our inability to realize our potential for goodness, which is to bring joy to others. By burning the Muslim sacred scripture is Terry Jones bringing Joy to others. So much time, effort and money is being spent by Terry & his congregation in this shameless act ... as a pastor can’t he channel all this for the sick, the bedridden, the aged, the hungry & homeless.

The Catholic Church's stand :

" USCCB leaders condemn plans to burn Quran, denounce intolerance "
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The chairmen of three committees of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops have joined in condemnation of plans by a small Florida Pentecostal church to burn the Quran on Sept. 11,2010.

"The burning of another faith tradition's sacred texts is diametrically opposed to the Catholic Church's ongoing commitment to improving interreligious relations," he said. "Furthermore, it represents a counter-witness to the Gospel engendering fear and hatred rather than the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves."
"The destruction of a copy of the (Quran) is an affront to all people of faith, and to society as a whole," "It is also an affront to the Gospel message to love our neighbor as ourselves and in direct opposition to our church's efforts to build bridges of understanding and bring about a civilization of peace."
"All acts of intolerance aimed at a religious community should find no place in our world, let alone in our nation which is founded on the principle of religious freedom,"

My Comments on the Catholic Church's stand :
I am proud of the Catholic Church’s strong condemnation of the plans by the Gainesville, Fla., evangelical church under the leadership of the lunatic Terry Jones to burn the sacred texts of the Muslims. If there is any planned activity to ...insult, desecrate, discriminate or damage the beliefs of others (Hinduism, Muslim, Buddhism, Taoism etc), than i think it is our moral responsibility to denounce such action and prevent it from happening. Our outright condemnation of this despicable act should not be based after comparing the Muslim’s sacred texts with our Hold Bible or the Eucharist in order to ascertain the degree of its importance, but on respect and love for others’ beliefs.
